Posidonia Cup 2008 sailing race, the fourth edition of the biennial yachting event, marked the opening of the Posidonia 2008 week. This event has been heralded by all members of the international shipping community, where a record number of 64 yachts in all divisions and nearly 500 crew members, among which two Olympic medal winners, participated.

Quicksilver competed against 24 others in an exciting 2.5 hours race starting from Faliron Bay in Piraeus, Greece. An enthralling race saw the Inmarsat vessel in a "sprint finish" crossing the line only 20 sec behind the 2nd placed vessel in the creditable 3rd place. Quicksilver’s crew team was Agelos Paramithiotis and Dimitris Bouzalas from Otesat-Maritel, Konstantinos Lourandos and Alexandros Fissas from Springfield, Christos Koutoulas from Five Oceans Salvage, Piers Cunningham and Κyle Ηurst from Inmarsat, and the yacht’s skipper Antonis Boudouris.

Piers Cunningham, Head of Maritime Business for Inmarsat described the success as symbolic of the strong relationship between Inmarsat and its partners and end users. "This continues to demonstrate our commitment to the maritime industry with Inmarsat, partners and end-users working together for a fantastic outcome", he said.

"Quicksilver’s success is a result of the coordinated effort and reflects the dynamics of teamwork with our customers and partners for better results, in all levels" said George Polychronopoulos, CEO of Otesat-Maritel.

Congratulations to all participants!
