Otesat-Maritel has specially developed a VPN (Virtual Private Network) solution for the maritime industry whereby Inmarsat Fleet 77/55/33 MPDS (Multiple Packet Data Service) customers may exchange data not only at a higher speed, but at lower cost and within a secure Internet access environment.
Customers can, according their specific telecommunication needs, choose between two different solutions:
MPDS solution combined with VPN technology for fully controlled Internet access by IP addresses, specified by the customer. The solution is fully duplex (shore-ship, ship-shore) because the vessels is provided with a static IP address. In addition, Otesat-Maritel also offers:
The establishment of VPN network reaches the customer’s premises (tunneling and encryption between the vessel and the Maritime Company). The security control is secured by the customer’s firewall. This solution requires that the Maritime Company owns a permanent connection for Internet access (leased line) and is accountable for its vessels’ traffic control due a privately owned firewall.
