Whatever your needs, Inmarsat Fleet 55 offers a single, integrated communica-tions solution that delivers versatility and choice to ensure that you and your vessel are no longer isolated while at sea.

Because Inmarsat Fleet Fleet 55’s antenna and be-low deck unit package is smaller and more economical than the Fleet 77 equivalent, Fleet 55 is suitable for use onboard a wide range of vessels, including medium-sized merchant ships, large motor and sailing yachts, larger fishing vessels, patrol boats, research vessels, survey ships and offshore support craft.

Inmarsat Fleet 55 is designed to be simple to install for both new vessel or retrofit applications. In addition, the terminals feature a range of industry standard connections and interfaces for maxi-mum hardware compatibility.

Voice Services

Inmarsat Fleet 55 provides digital voice communications on a virtually global basis as standard with a 4.8kbps voice channel. A high quality 3.1kHz audio channel is also available.

Additionally, Otesat-Maritel's SIM cards and pre-paid calling options are available to offer increased flexibility for social and crew calling and/or multiple users.

Call Waiting is also available as an option to notify users of the pres-ence of an incoming voice, fax or data calls while they are conducting an MPDS session. When the call-waiting alert is received, the user will have the choice of whether to accept the incoming call or not.

Fax Services

Inmarsat Fleet 55 ISDN channel enables 64kbps Group 4 Fax for vessel-to-shore, shore-to-vessel and vessel-to-vessel applications. A 9.6kbps Group 3 Fax option is also provided.

Data Services

Inmarsat Fleet 55’s key differentiator is its ability to deliver high-speed Internet Protocol (IP) data transmissions. The service’s Mobile ISDN channel offers data transfer rates of up to 64kbps. Mobile ISDN enables users to send and receive e-mail, access virtual private networks (VPNs), transfer large data files and digital images, as well as run live videoconference.

In addition, Inmarsat Fleet 55 Fleet F55 gives users the choice of Inmarsat’s unique Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS). By charging only for the amount of data sent and received, not the time spent online, this packet-based service provides cost-efficient "always on" Internet or corporate / private network access at speeds of up to 64kbps.

For enhanced data security, both the ISDN and MPDS channels support anti-virus software and firewalls, as well as the majority of Virtual Private Network (VPN) protocols.

Otesat-Maritel is offering Inmarsat-Fleet 55 services via «Thermopylae» and hosting Land Earth Stations with the access code "005" for all ocean regions.
