Inmarsat Fleet 33 offers integrated voice, fax and data as well as the Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS), allowing end-users to remain "always connected". Charges are made for the amount of data sent and received rather than the time spent online. Ideal for e-mail, web and intranet access.

Inmarsat Fleet 33 MPDS operates at variable speeds depending on whether data is being uploaded or downloaded. In the asymmetric mode, transfer rates of up to 64 kbps are possible in the download direction, while uploads rates of up to 28 kbps are enabled.This difference in speed allows for the fact that most Internet query commands contain less data than most response commands.

By offering spotbeam data and global voice coverage, Inmarsat Fleet 33 has also been designed for yachts or leisure vessels which require a smaller antenna, lighter above-deck equipment and a low-cost, simple hardware installation. Also Fleet 33 constitutes an excellent solution for the crew communication (voice, e-mai, SMS) and an ideal supplement of Fleet 77 or FleetBroadband.

The system allocates global coverage and provides:

• Voice 4.8 kbps (Inmarsat Mini-M quality)
• Fax at 9.6 kbps
• Data at 9.6 kbps
• Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS)
